"Museums of Contemporary Art: Cultural Management in four sections."


The Meeting held on 03.27.2017, as a result of the collaboration of the International Hellenic University with the State Museum of Contemporary Art, at the premises of the International Hellenic University, dealt with the issue of cultural management within the Museums of Contemporary Art.

The meeting was coordinated by Professor Dr. em. Athanassios G. Kaissis, Faculty of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Member of the Governing Board of the International Hellenic University and Scientific Director of the Legal Postgraduate Programmes of the International Hellenic University and  Assistant Professor Andreas Takis, Faculty of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Chairman of the Board of the State Museum of Contemporary Art. Professor Kaissis gave a warm welcome to the participants on behalf of the President of the Governing Board of the International Hellenic University Professor Costas Grammenos, who had to be abroad for academic reasons. Both the coordinators referred thoroughly and accurately to the importance of the Museum cultural management centered to the State Museum of Contemporary Art, especially in the light of law.

Four distinguished scientists of the SMCA, the Director of the SMCA, Dr. Maria Tsantsanoglou, the Head of its collections, Dr. Yiannis Bolis, the Head of European Programmes, Mrs. Athina Ioannou (MA) and the Head of Public Relations, Mrs. Chrysa Zarkali (MA), highlighted in their presentations the crucial aspects of cultural management, examining issues such as the formation of Art collections, the international collaborations between museums, the mobility of collections, the European and co-funded programmes and communicating museum’s work.

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding was examined by both the State Museum of Contemporary Art and the International Hellenic University.

An interesting conversation between the specialized audience followed. 

Students of MSc Banking and Finance, Arvanitaki Despoina, Chatzilakos Ioannis, Gkantsidis Nikolaos and Khalayla Susan participated in this year’s CFA Investment Research Challenge. Students’ secured third place in the local finals where seven institutions participated.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.

The postgraduate program, MSc in Banking and Finance, has joined the CFA University Recognition Programme. Following this recognition, the CFA Institute certifies that the IHU offers a graduate program which covers to a large extent the syllabus of the internationally renowned professional title awarded by the CFA. Therefore, Master's students, besides gaining thorough academic training in the topics covered on the MSc in Banking and Finance, are also being prepared in the acquisition of a prestigious professional certification.

In this context MSc in Banking and Finance students have the opportunity to claim three partial scholarships for participation in the CFA exam each year.
