Our visiting Professor Keith Pilbeam, who is internationally known in the area of international economics, took part in a discussion panel on Press TV on Sunday night at 21:00. Professor Pilbeam spoke about the functions and efficiency of IMF and World Bank in relation to loans made by these organisations. IMF structural changes were discussed with particular consideration of their influence on developed and developing economies. The US bank crisis and its effect on the global financial markets and global economy were explained. Potential solutions to the food crisis and the stabilisation of foreign exchange rate markets were also discussed. |
