International Trade Fair of Thessaloniki

The International Trade Fair is an annual commercial exhibition of some importance in Greece and Southeastern Europe which takes place in Thessaloniki in September.

The event also includes significant political speeches from the Prime Minister and Leaders of the Opposition Parties regarding the Government's future economic policies.

Participants from many countries around the world promote all sorts of items from industrial equipment to household decorations. Almost half a million members of the business community attend this event every year.

 

Thessaloniki Film Festivalfilm

The International Film Festival is organized every Autumnl, hosted in different theatres throughout the city. Many important film personalities have come to the festival, many new talents have made a name here, and many young directors have been given the opportunity to express themselves.

The Thessaloniki Documentary Festival - Images of the 21st Century (TDF) is a film festival specialising in documentary films which takes place every March in Thessaloniki and is affiliated with the International Thessaloniki Film Festival.

 

 

Dimitria Festival

The Dimitria Festival is the main social event in the city's calendar. Events are held throughout the town of Thessaloniki. The festival prides itself on its mix of the traditional with the avant-garde and the range of events is impressive, featuring theatre, opera, dance, music, art and literary seminars.

 

Biennale of Contemporary Art

This is an event designed to reconnect art with real life and is based on actual cooperation and communication between institutions, artists, curators and the public. Hundreds of artists, dozens of organisations of the city, as well as a well-coordinated team of curators and assistants attempt, for a four-month period in areas of the Port and other locations in town, the fulfilment and the justification of the event's intentions, through a core exhibition and performance programme together with many parallel exhibitions and events.
