As part of the celebrations for the centenary of the liberation of Thessaloniki, the International Hellenic University (IHU) would like to announce the 2nd IHU Photography Contest.

This year the topic is Thessaloniki: Views and Perspectives of a city

The IHU wishes to offer students and photographers, amateur and professional, the opportunity to discover new perspectives of the city and its people and to present through their photographic lens the special character, the temperament and idiosyncrasies of the city.

Deadline of submissions: 15 October 2012

Voting period : 16 October – 16 November 2012

The contest has two sections. The first is addressed to students from any academic institution, public or private, Greek and non-Greek. The second section is for amateur and professional photographers regardless of age or nationality.

Prizes

Audience Prize: 500 Euro

1st Prize in student category: 500 Euro

1st Prize in non-student category: 500 Euro

2nd and 3rd Prizes (regardless of category): One year’s participation in the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art programme Seminars on culture 2012-2013

The Judging Committee will also award honorary commendations to the photographers in 4th, 5th and 6th places (regardless of category).

The committee will choose the photographs that will be exhibited in a photography exhibition on the International Hellenic University Campus.

 

Judging Committee

The Judging Committee is comprised of Hercules Papaioannou, curator of the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, Georgios Katsaggelos, professor of the School of Visual and Applied Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Stergios Karavatos, Photographer, freelance curator, collaborates with Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art (MMCA) and a member of the Governing Board of the International Hellenic University.

Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying the contest topic.
