International Workshop “Jews of Salonica in the Modern Period 1492-1950”

A two-day workshop focussing on the topic of the Jews of Salonica in the Modern Period will take place on 25-26 June 2012. The workshop is organised in the context of a special issue of the Jewish History Journal on the Jews of Salonica. The issue, which is scheduled to appear in 2013, is co-edited by Anthony Molho (Brown University & European University Institute), Eyal Ginio (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) and Paris Papamichos Chronakis (University of Thessaly).

The workshop includes ten papers, a plenary speech by Aron Rodrigue (Stanford University), a presentation of the database 'Greek Jewish Shoah Testimonies' and a roundtable discussion. The plenary speech, the database presentation and the roundtable discussion are open to the public.
