The International Hellenic University welcomed its new students to the university on Friday 30 September 2011. They come from seventeen (17) different countries (Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Belgium, Georgia, Greece, the USA, Cameroon, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, FYROM, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Sudan, Turkey) with the proportion of foreign students reaching 20%, despite the difficult economic times. The MA in Black Sea Cultural Studies programme deserves special mention with a proportion of foreign students of 50%.
The Chairman of the Governing Board of the International Hellenic University, Professor Costas Grammenos, welcomed the new students, stressing the importance of one’s graduate career path. He emphasized the increased need, given the difficult economic times, to pursue new academic excellence, as it is this that will equip them better in their future working career. Finally, he mentioned the four (4) new programmes, recently approved by the Ministry of Education, which will start in 2012:
Apart from the actual enrolment process, Induction Day for the new students includes an introduction to the course curricula and obligations, the university’s information infrastructure, information on the social clubs available and a chance to interact with their fellow students, teachers and the administrative staff of their school.
