"Transferable Skills in the Job Hunting Process"

Employers look at more than just job titles, preferring to concentrate on a candidate's relevant skills and experience. This 5-hour interactive workshop was designed to equip students with a full range of skills to become more attractive to employers. The aim of the workshop was to help students and alumni to identify their transferable skills, to justify them in a CV and to talk about them in an interview. Participants had the chance to get a feedback on their CVs and to practice their skills through role plays in a simulated interview.

Fifteen million professionals around the world use Linked In to develop their career and to build their career network. This career event aimed to explain LinkedIn’s popularity when it comes to job search & building a professional network. This career event revealed all the secrets of the social media and gave useful insights of how to make the best use of them for career development.

"Learning and Working Pathways in Europe"
Students, guidance professionals and academics actively and enthusiastically took part in an event co-organized by the IHU’s Career Office and CEDEFOP, with the participation of Europe Direct. The event, which took place in the main amphitheater of the IHU in the presence of over 200 people, covered future skills and occupations and how education and training can create stronger links to the labour market. In addition it emphasized on common European tools which aim to make it easier for citizens to work and study throughout Europe.

"TITAN: 7th Postgraduate Forum"
The purpose of the Forum was to better inform the managers of tomorrow for the actual conditions that they will meet shortly in the business world but also in the international market. It also aimed to give them the opportunity to share thoughts and concerns with representatives of the academic and business community. During the event the study "Greece 10 years ahead" conducted by McKinsey & Company on behalf of BSE and the Greek Association of Banks, was presented. The conference program included an open discussion about the economic sectors that will provide employment opportunities in the coming years and entrepreneurship opportunities. The event took place at ΤΙΤΑΝ Cement Plant Thessaloniki, giving students the opportunity to visit heavy industry facilities.

13 & 14 "CV & Cover Letter Writing Workshops"

Four interactive career workshops were conducted by the IHU’s Career Officers that aimed to help students and alumni to create effective CV's and Cover Letters. Participants were encouraged to bring their own CVs for review and guidance. The workshop covered the basic principles of writing CV & Cover Letters, valuable tips, Do's and Don'ts, the most common mistakes as well as ways of showcasing skills.

"Presentation Skills for Professionals"

This career event aimed to improve students’ ability to produce and deliver sophisticated and persuasive presentations with real impact. Participants had the chance to learn about all areas of preparing, presenting and polishing powerful presentations and increasing the effectiveness of every professional presentation. The guest speaker made clear to all students that strong presentation skills can advance their career.

"Looking for a Job abroad: The big challenge"

The event aimed to pinpoint the best international job hunting strategies for young professionals and to provide practical information after finding the job abroad. The workshop was supported by Skype interviews with European HR Managers, YouTube Videos, Assessment Centre Scenarios and practical examples. From the very first moment, there was an overwhelming interest by graduates of all public universities and the event drew the attention of the media due to its stimulating topic.

The event aimed to facilitate graduates and alumni that were looking for a job abroad in the international job market. The Managing Director of the company conducted interview sessions with IHU’s candidates that were seeking jobs abroad in order to select the most suitable.
