Stella Drougou
Professor Stella Drougou was born in Thessaloniki and studied Classical Archaeology and Classical Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, of Wurzburg and of Heidelberg in Germany. She has a PhD from the University of Wurzburg.
She has been a member of the teaching and research staff of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since 1976 and holds the position of Professor of Classical Archaeology at the same university.
She has participated in the archaeological dig at Vergina since 1976 as a key officer of the research team. During the period 1992-2002 she directed the course of the dig. Currently she has a large part of the research undertaken at Vergina under her jurisdiction.
Since 1986 she has been a key member of the scientific committee which organises the International Scientific Meetings for Greek Pottery. She is a member of the Archaeological Society of Athens, the German Archaeological Institute and the Austrian Archaeological Institute. Lately she has been appointed as a member of the National Council of Research and Technology and of the Governing Committee of the International Hellenic University.
She has published a large number of studies on her principal subjects of ancient pottery, Vergina, etc.
